Hey everyone,

Just to start off, I work at a data center building servers, support, web hosting, VPS, and a whole lot more ;). I always wanted to get in to web design, and have messed around with photoshop, flash, few others and really just messed around with tutorials. But I feel like I can only get so far then I get all bogged up. I have a friend that wants to start coding but isn't a big fan of the design aspect, so I figure that's where I would come in, eventually. Please, help me out as to where I should start my web design career ;).. Do I simply go from tutorial to tutorial, is there a book I should read up on. I even am wiling to sign up for a class, but most people I talk to say its mostly a waste of money, you can learn way more on your own =X. So, any suggestions, yes I know its a hard question to answer considering I'm sure mostly everyones starting point was different. Anything at all will be greatly appreciated.

There's a web design package called 'WebPage Maker.. It's a wysiwyg program that you can demo. It may only be good for a basic, no frills website but you can still create a pretty nice looking site with it. By using a program like this, you can create a site, then study the source for coding. This is an easy way to see how coding works because you'll see the coding for your site that you virtually made via copy and paste.
