I have been opening PSD and PNG files. Adding a new layer underneath. Filling new layer with white so the that original now has a white background instead of squares. It just stopped working. Color space is RGB. It doesn't work in CMYK either. It was... but now it's not.

You can see the new layer beneath. But the top layer is still transparent. Not ok.

Why? I have changed nothing in the process.

What do I do to fill that background with white?

I am so tired of things working and then not.
