painted wood effect

Hi

I'd like to reproduce a vintage effect: painting on wooden planks !
The tennessee vacation website has a such effect on the background (tnvacation.com)
I have the picture and the brush but I can't find the settings to have a proper overlay, hiding the wood colorr but keeping the wood effect.
Can someone help ?

just desaturate(make B&W) the wood layer then change the blend mode to "Overlay"
