Thanks for the words of encouragement!

 I must correct myself; that particular lesson was from the Selections chapter of the book, not layers.  [oops]

 Speaking of the book, I give it two big thumbs up. The tutorials are compact and very clear, using many examples with color on most every page.

  I have used Classroom In a Book since version 6, and it is not my favorite means of learning the program.

  The chapters in Adobe Photoshop CS Complete Course take about "90 minutes" each to complete, much like CIB. However, each chapter is broken down into seperate lessons, say maybe 10-20 minutes each (sometimes less), building upon the previous lesson. Unlike CIB which I find tends to "roam" a bit, more so like a novel instead of a study guide.
