Pen tool

Hello. Need some help on using te pen tool. I have a picture of Goku and want to create a laser beam shooing out of his hand and have no idea how to use it. I've looked on YouTube but all it shows is how to create a beam around the body.

create a new layer
Select your brush tool first with the diamater you would like your beam at usually very narrow and a bright colour.
select the pen tool click once in the hand hold down shift and click where you want the laser beam to end. Holding down shift keeps the line straight.
right click the line you have just created and select stroke path
use stroke path option of Brush
then right click the layer in the layer panel and select blending options
add an outer glow with the desired dimensions and colour
perhaps add an inner glow
then go into paths panel and delete the path

You said laser beam if i remember correctly, thats a pulse lightning

And I would like to point out it is the same method almost just instead of 1 straight line with the pen tool do a couple with curves in then merge those layers together after you have stroked the paths but with a white brush and a golden outer and inner glow.
Then duplicate that layer and set it to screen mode or any of the light (soft,Hard,Vivid) modes.

-Make a curved line using pen tool.
-Right click, stroke path (be sure to have a small, hard brush, and the color you require for the beam).
-Make a new layer, stroke with pen tool again. Change size to a bit small, and color a bit lighter. Turn the style to overlay.
-Make another curved line.
-Rinse and repeat.
