Picture Appearance Help

Hey Guys,

I want to know how this picture (image 1) has been made. Although, I don't need the 3D effect, I want to get it quite similar. So far, I came until this: (Image 2). They are very far apart and I do not know how to do it with photoshop. I want to know how this picture (image 1) has been made please help.

As for your image, your on the right track... All it need is a little tweaking with the tranform/distort function.

The rest requires patience with the airbrush for hilites and shadows on each individual cells.

As well as a play with layer modes and adding blur to certain areas of the image.
