Suddenly Text layers do not work correctly.

I can type and copy text into the layer, but the cursor wil not move. Pressing ENTER on the keyboard has no effect.

What have I done to screw things up???

Not enough information. Please explain a situation in which you have the problem.

I am inserting Captions to illustrations for eBooks. Using Canvas Size, I make space for text at the bottom of the image. In that added space I click on the text tool and make space for the caption. The text area displays with the cursor at the top of the text area.

In the past, I could move the cursor down by pressing then ENTER key or place the cursor within the text using the mouse to enter CR where needed. Editing the text is not possible.

Now the cursor will not move from the top of the text area.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly... but could you check whether the Base Line Shift Setting in Character properties is set at default (0).

Baseline Shift is set to 0.

You mentioned it was working fine before.

You may have to reset the PS preferences ...

Start Photoshop while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).


It's not a cure all but give this a try and get back to us with the result.
