Blend-If can work here.
Fill a new layer with white above your text image.
Open the Layer Styles panel and go to the Blend-If sliders. Experiment with settings, similar to what's shown below.
After I did the best I could, the remaining text was still a little faint. I then copied the entire image to a new layer and changed the blend mode to Multiply, which darkened the text nicely.
