Replacing text overlaid on background

Hi guys, just new on this forum here! So I have some experience working with Photoshop, but not a huge amount, and I'm currently working on a new layout for a college publication for next year, and have a slight problem with one of the headers that was made up for me! It's a dark blue background with a fairly intricate pattern of white lines kind of criss-crossing through it, with yellow text overlaid on that, but unfortunately the yellow text contains a blisteringly obvious typo, and really needs to be fixed! I thought it would be grand, just go back and fix the layer it's contained in, but the lad who made it only saved it as a jpeg! :( So is there any way to salvage the pattern of white lines behind the yellow lettering so I can just overlay a new letter on it? Thanks

Please post your jpeg. Just click on the tree icon in the reply window and choose the from computer option. It doesn't sound like it will be a quick and easy fix but you may be able to clone or duplicate portions of it. Let's see it.

as ibclare said please share the image, if it is what i am thinking i might have a quick solution to it.
