Hey you guys!  I got it ....almost!       I have used all those tools and methods, I just never thought of them as vector but now that you tell me, I can see why the layers look like they do when using...omg *thunder bolt struck head* they are vector!  It didn't even ever occur to me yesterday when I had to rasterize  a line layer ... I can be soooooooo dense sometimes....just like the husband sez.

 

And, now I know PS was not hiding something from me.  It was there all the time in plain sight.

Thanks, keep the commentary coming about those masks too, I think there is a technique I'm missing about 1/2 vector and grayscale huh?
