Scanned Leaves 02

This is a leaf from an orange tree growing in my yard. During my grandfather's childhood, citrus trees were common along the Gulf Coast from Brownsville, Texas (neart the Mexican border) right way round to the tip of the Florida Peninsula. By the time I was born, the only place you would see citrus trees was in Florida, right around the New Orleans area and points south and west of Corpus Christi, Texas. Here of late, we have been able to plant citrus trees and have them reach full maturity. What this says about the climate is for you to decide. Personally, I suspect that our current warming trend is completely natural in origin.

BTW: Citrus leaves are wonderfully aromatic, only vaguely similar in scent to their fruit.

B7 Iro Koii ! I was looking for a specimen like this just a while back...

Good to hear this stuff is usefeul to someone, Wendy. Here is the best grape leaf I could come up with. Only a very few varieties of grapes grow here and none of them particularly spectacular. I'm sure anyone living in California could give us a much better example. The leaves of most varieties of grapes are wonderfully complicated on the edges. This one is very simple by comparison.

Thanks Iro... these grape leaves will come in most handy :}

You're welcome, Bubble!

Attached to this message is the image of a willow leaf. There is only one because willow leaves vary very little from one side to the next.

Great scans/photo sources for all gurus here Iro Koii! ;) :righton:

Where would we be without roses? We spend a lot of time struggling to get the petals right, but what about the leaves and stems? Well, it is not a problem with a simple solution. All of the vary markedly from one variety of rose to the next. Worse, trying to scan stems is an exercise in futility. What I can do is give you a scan of a rose leaf that is fairly representative of all rose leaves in terms of shape. Be advised, however, that texture, size and color vary markedly from one variety of rose to the next. Oh, and yes, they do vary considerably from season to season as well.

This one should be kind of fun. No, it is NOT part of a vidcap from a cheezy scifi flick. This is a real leaf from a real vine. We call it a "wait-a-minute" vine. Why? Because the vine has thorns and when you get tangled up in it, you shout at your companions saying, "Wait a minute! Wait a minute!"

Unfortunately, I can tell you little else about this particular plant, other than the vine is quite strong and its thorns sharp.

B7 Iro Koii! Tx again for sharing!
