Slicing Butttons from canvas

Hi,

I have made a button on a canvas in photoshop who's size is much smaller than the size of the canvas. I am wondering if there is a way I can slice the button out from the canvas like we can move the button around in the canvas with the move tool?

If you have a picture, it would be helpful.

If the button is on the same layer as the canvas, use the magic wand/selection tool to select the button. Copy it (CTL+C), create a new layer, and paste it (CTL+V) on the new layer.

Now you can move and resize at will.
