Small gap between two colors

So I'm trying to burn an image using a laser engraver but the after engraving the image is hard to distinguish the two colors. The only way I think it can be fixed is by evenly adding a small 1/8th inch gap between the two colors (blue and tan) including the eye and ear. I can't seem to figure out how to do it in Photoshop to save my life. I need some instruction on how to do this for myself so I won't have issues on future projects.

Thanks for any help I can get!

Hello and welcome to PSG!

While this is a fairly straight forward matter, it was a bit of a challenge with the low res images. It made making the selections rather difficult.

So here's the basic technique.
Isolate the inside of the logo to it's own layer.

I have this "inner template" isolated on it's own layer. White layer.

I then added an inner stroke to the white layer and lowed it's fill to O%.
The stroke can be edited.

I then added a complete original layer below.

ah! thanks so much! I'm still getting the hang of photoshop. I'll see if I can come up with a higher res image and try it myself! I appreciate the help!
