You aren't telling us where to find this tutorial so we can compare it to what you are doing wrong.

Bob from what I can see you don't have the "inner Glow" or the "Gradient Overlay" boxes checked [confused]

Bob, look closely at your example image above, and then go look at the Layer Style screenshots on Mark's tut post.

In Mark's examples, starting with the first one, you notice on the left he has Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, and Gradient Overlay already checked - in YOUR image above you only have Bevel and Emboss checked.

His screenshots show a style that's already finished - he's just posting the images to make it easier for you to follow what he did.

Finish the steps to making your style, then you'll see :)

He's talking about the Real 3D Type tutorial right on the Photoshop Gurus main page: http://photoshopgurus.info/

Hm. I never even seen the main page anymore, I'm just bookmarked right to the forums. heh. Good call. Carry on :)

Hey Bobzworld, C9 is right! :)

Don't even look at that preview thumbnail until you have applied all the layer effects! ;)

Good Luck! :)

k cool, thanks guys :righton: that prob was the gradient overlay, reversed wasn't checked. :D
now, one last thing...
i can't get my inner glow gradient to match the Tuts

Hi Bob,

Yeah, that was a hard one for me, too. Mark didn't give any of the colors he used (not even for the gradient itself). I believe he did this for a reason - here at PSG I always see Mark telling people to experiment, to follow a tut but to try different things themselves. I believe that's why he did this.

To compensate for this I copied the screenshot, pasted it into the Photoshop worksurface, and used the Eyedropper Tool to select a color from the little gradient bar in his screenshot - that got me a color close enough for government work.

I did the same thing for the gradient in Gradient Overlay. You can either do the copy/paste as I mentioned above or you can use a color picking program.

I use a neat little app called Pixie. This is a good little tool to help you pick out colors from backgrounds, images, etc. I use this one all the time. You can get it here:

oh btw, you wouldn't know what font that is that Mark using in that Tutoria would ya?

thanks

Bob, I believe it's HandelGothic.
