Image not appearing

I have an on again off again problem. Probably 90% of the time that I open or create a new image it doesn't appear in the window. If I move the window around it is there and you can see the image in the layer thumbnails, but as static it's as though it's invisible showing only the grey background.

I have uninstalled and re-installed it 4 or 5 times and yesterday I thought I had it, but then this morning I have the same problem again.

Running CS5.1 Photoshop Elements on a nearly new Dell XPS system with Windows 7 operating system.

Anybody have any ideas or need any further information?
