Illustrator Need help with creating a logo for my college electronics department

i am from electronics and instrumentation department so i was assigned to design a logo for the same.i have worked with Photoshop before but the logo need a 3d touch to it ..i have drawn the logo(attached) but have no idea how to represent it into any software like illustrator or corel draw..

the image uses two E's combined to form an i in the negative space

please do guide me..

This shouldnt difficult. If you could make one single 'E' then you can mirror it and join those 2 layers and then worry about colors after that. If you dont want to make a 3d 'E' manually you can easily get it done with any basic 3d software. Just use the text tool and type in an E and take a screenshot or render it.

You will have to make an emphasis on your letter ‘E’ because it is sort of lost in your design. It's a bright concept though.
