Simulate bright in composition

Hello! I'm trying to simulate the effect of this image, but I'm having trouble to do the "bright" in the background. Do you guys have any ideas how can I reach a similar effect? Thanks!

download a set of light beam brushes like this 1 here http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/27604-light-ray-brushes

create a new layer and choose the brush with the right shape you want then ain in white set the layer blending mode to overlay/ soft light etc job done
