Problem with brushes panel

Whenever I try to open the Brushes panel, the Bridge window pops up. I know that Bridge is a media manager, so I'm not sure why is it opening. I really need to edit the brushes and I can't find a way to do it. Is there a way to disable bridge or another way to open the brushes panel that won't open bridge?

What version ? I just checked my CS5 opens just brush window either through menu or F5 regardless whether Bridge is launched or not.

CS5 Extended, I tried with F5, it opens Bridge too D:

Do you have the panel set out in your workspace or do you use the one next to the brush tool drop down?

Probably because re-installation is a pain and it even does not help if problem is somewhere else, e.g. configuration, usage etc.

exactly... when all you have to do is restart PS and hold down a couple keys. that doesn't work. next step.
