Any ideas on how to get this effect?
angelica-1.jpg

its kinda sketchy that I think it was overlay-ed by a high pass
but I want to achieve the color of the pic.
any ideas?

I imagine a lot of this effect is from the way it is lit for the photoshoot or how the flash is set up and so on. I'm not a professional photographer but from the discussions I've seen here, much of this kind of thing is done at the shoot, not in post processing. But here is a tutorial, a discussion and a freeware plugin you may want to look at. Hope this helps and if not, don't go away just yet. More gurus could have ideas for you.

may be more desaturated than you want but you could place an original on layer over it and change blend mode to soft light or opacity, or just decrease the normal layer opacity?

Pretty good; captures the bleached look. I like how you used the decorative overlay, nice. If I were doing it, I would just soften the skin a bit. I'm not sure why it has so much graininess.

Good job. I think it could use just a teeny bit more, but I have probably been brain-washed by all the "super smooth" requests. Forgot what human skin looks like!

I have one other opinion. I think it would look better without the text. The decorative BG you have which creeps up the side is very nice and it is obscured. Plus I don't think the font -- which is cute -- really fits this image.

seriously I dont like what i done there with the font.. but I dont know how and where to put the "Happiness Under The Sun"

My suggestion, since you are determined to keep the text, is to use vertical text and run it up and down the left side there. That might actually look nice and give some balance. And the font you are using now might even work OK. Personally I think a font that reflects the design appearance of the abstract BG pattern would work better, but that's just my opinion.
