I was super bored and had a rat photoshoot with my rattie Zoey.
These aren't meant to be super professional or anything, I just thought it'd be cute, lol.

what were you using for lighting?

whatever it was looks very flat and harsh

to me it looks like an on camera flash

On camera flash because my room's lighting sucks and it was at night so I couldn't use any natural lighting.

I do want to make my own diy lightbox when I have time. Maybe I'll try again then!

a good alternative to that is a table lamp with a shade that you can flip up, and is white underneath. put a soft white lightbulb in there, and you have a decent soft light source

Yea you should play with the lighting even if you have to use the room lamp. You can always adjust the light color in post. Maybe come up with a color that looks awesome. But yea, at least you put a back drop!
