How to change the color?

Hi all,

I've got a file where all is in orange.
I'd like to change that color to some sort of blue, but can't seem to get it to work.

I've already tried to use 'hue/saturation', but I can't change all parts of the file...

Can anyone help me out on this?
I'd like to know how you could change it.
If someone wants, I can give you a link to the file, but can't post it right here atm (not enough posts yet :cool2:)

Thx alot,

Brevecht

Instead of changing hue of the whole picture try Hue as Adjustment layer and mask what you do not want to change.

You cannot post a link, but you can post a file, jpg or psd.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I didn't see that you could add attachments.

Here is the file attached.

The big orange things I can change (layers "tab blend (selected)" and "tab blend (normal over)"), but I don't manage to change the layers: "open dot" or dots close.

If I try to change the layer dots close only the "-" sign changes in colour, but not the circle around it...

I think it is because they are not drawn there but created by Stroke in Layer Style ( double click on layer icon in Layers window ).

Just go to the top of the layer stack, then make an adjustment layer for hue/saturation, don't clip it. It should change all layers below it. Worked fine for me.

It may be because orange and blue are polar opposites. Just invert the layers that have the color on them and that should give you a good start.

It has nothing to do with orange - blue relationship, it is easy to shift the hue to blue, just the Stroke in Layers style does not react on a clipping mask. Of course ibclare is right, Adjustment layer on the whole document works, but why does the clipping mask not work, is it a bug or can anybody explain ?

Yes, all the clippings work, but you are right, it's the stroke. I just had to edit this post because I realize that the stroke effect is independent of the clipped adjustment but not the overall document adjustment. I can't explain why but I checked on a new doc and there you have it. I don't suppose it's a bug, just something about the independent layer vs. the entire document, but you got me.

But why ? I would expect the stroke is part of the layer so it, at least in my opinion, should be affected by clipping mask as anything else in the layer. What am I missing ?

Ha! I am more confused as to why the non clipped layer at the top should affect it. After all, the clipped adjustment layer affects the contents of the layer and the stroke is separate from the contents. So I would think that no hue/sat adjustment should make a difference.

I guess we'll have to call the programmers at Adobe or wake hoogle up! [highfive]

I think that is probably the answer. If it is clipped, it affects only the layer contents, whereas, If not clipped, it affects all qualities of the layer including layer fx.

I know . . . it still doesn't answer your question. Sigh . . .

Surely there is some smart alec out there who can!

If we keep going round in circle like this peta, we may have to start a new thread to resolve the issue.

I never said that. I successfully changed the color in styles. Used to be a user could change colors in styles, and believe it is that way still. It isn't stroke or outerglow that is the problem, and those can be eliminated if it is.
