Refine edge problem in CS6

Hi

I've been successfully cutting out portraits from a white background and placing them in a layout design but each of the cut outs has a very thin white line showing that is from the edged of the original image. I can use a mask brush to paint this out but when we save the cut out with the lines deleted, they still are there when we reopen the template at a later time! Am I missing something from refine edge's preferences? I work in the schools market and have lots of cut outs to do. Help.?????

If you must use refine edge, mess around with contrast and radius....I do not think you will ever lose the "halo" with refine edge, but what background are you using with refine edge...Black ?that should show up, but if you use the white, you will not see the halo until after you make the mask

There are many possibilities of why that is happening could you show us a sample of before-and-after?

do you have smart radious checked in the refine edge options.

You can also try the blend if option under layer styles of the picture layer. just nudge the white slider in slightly dont go to far or you will get funky eyes and teeth.

Split the white slider (by holding down the "alt" key on PCs) and they will likely look less funky.
