HDD to SSD

After reading about the difference between these two, I decided to get myself a SSD and see what the preformance difference is like.

I currently have a 500g hdd and about 400g spare of that. So this SSD is going to be ample for my needs.
Also added an extra 4g ram and have noticed the boost with just that.

Has anyone else upgraded and was the impact on preformace significantly visable?

Absolutely and without doubt.
Make sure you only install your OS, programs and scratch disk on it and NO data.
Use your old HDD as data drive.

I have myself 1 SSD 256 GB (OS and programs), 1 SSD 128 GB (workdrive and scratch disk) and a 2 TB data drive HDD.

Could I do this on a laptop? I'm not sure what you mean about the data.

Oops, didn't knew it was a laptop...
What I mean is that you should not place any data on your OS drive but keep the data = pictures, video and music on a separate physical drive.
But I see you have a laptop and I'm pretty sure there will not be any place left for a SSD and your old HDD...

I will have to totally replace the hdd with the sdd, but I use an external 1tb storage for my music, videos. I shall also move my images
over as well, and ony other stuff I have. Thanks for the information.

Finally got my SSD and upon copying my OS across I somehow managed to wipe it clean instead.
I've had a new install and starting from scratch. But the difference between these two is unreal.
Even the boot time is more or less zero. Well worth the money and would recommend to anyone
who is considering the swap.

I use a 250gb M.2 for boot and a 1TB ssd for work drive and 2 - 2tb drives for storage. The M.2 ssd is super fast.

I've been confused between building a PC for myself or just getting an SSD for the Laptop that I use currently. Due the the current use of GPUs for Mining, the prices have sky rocketed, so I'm stuck in a dilemma.
If I get the SSD for my laptop, I'm going to place the SSD in a Caddy in place of the Disk Drive.

But yes, I've been told SSDs are really worth the money and they're a good investment.

After researching the Write Durability (TBW) in the New Samsung 860s … I’m running and would suggest a Samsung or a Western Digital SSD.

I've always been a Samsung SSD fan …. But Western Digital is Beginning to look just as good (Fast and Durable)

I like either SSD in 3 Desktops, Laptop and for a Really Fast External Enclosure to beat a USB Flash

I use a Fast flash or a mem card as external data storage for my Laptop.
250Gig SSD is what I use for my OS and have always have used a WD Black series HDD For Data Storage.
