Could anyone please help me with the usage of Vertus Fluid Mask

Hi, I am learning Vertus Fluid Mask via its video tutorial. One of the video teaches how to deal with the color of part of the image which is very close to the color of the background.

The instuctor in the video says that he uses Rectangle Patch, and adjusts the parameters of Edge with Threshold and Number of Edge. It is very easy for him.

I found a picture online and intended to practice, however the method mentioned doesn't work at all.

I just want to learn the usage of the software, instead of other ways of doing it, i.e. Pen of Photoshop. Could anyone help me with this?

This is actually a very cool addition to Ps. Masking is fairly easy for me, but if I had a need for this, I would certainly buy it.
