Actions Action to Sharpen some layers but not others

I have a PSD with multi-layer art and multi-layer borders above that art. All the border layers are in a group called Borders. I need to create an action that runs a sharpen filter on the art layers, but NOT the borders. To run the Sharpen filter, I need to flatten the art layers. They all...

Actions Grouping Photoshop Actions into Folders

In CS2+ (maybe earlier, but I don't know) the action window (which is grouped with the layers window) has a icon that's shaped like a folder. If you press that, you'll get a new actions folder. You can drag your existing actions into that folder. Be warned though, you might get some wonkiness...

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

The bar should actually be labeled "Click here to view at a larger size".

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

You can test this by right clicking the image and going to "Copy Image URL" and pasting that into a browser window and comparing it to the "full size" that the forum post bar provides. Although I can't guarantee that your browser renders it the same as mine. Clicking the images themselves...

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

While they "look fine" at a glance, my greater concern is in maximizing readability. When reading large sections of text (like the body text of a book) the quality of the font and the way it's rendered is very important when people have to read page after page. Fonts that are less than ideal...

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

I linked them because when you embed them with forum code my browser (Chrome) rescales them to fit the forum layout (even when I click the "Click here to see the full image" bar). When browser scaling is layered over the effects that I'm talking about, you can't see them, so they're not useful...

I come seeking help. Take me to your leader.

It's an open source alternative to Illustrator, but it's not maintained much anymore.

Need some ideas for my game.

How about a sawmill? There are lots of bad things: Debarkers (saws that grind the bark off logs) Saws for cutting wood into square sections Planers (they cut thin layers off boards to make them smoother and flatter) Kilns for drying wood furnaces for burning sawdust Steam generators that use...

Thanks Gaussian! You've given me an excuse to make another post! Photoshop is a core piece of our workflow, although most of the art comes from dedicated drawing programs like Illustrator and OpenCanvas.

Requiring post count to post URLs

There are a lot of hoops to jump through to prove I'm not a spammer. Particularly, I have to post 10 times before I can post a url? The reason I came here was to discuss my photoshop techniques, but I can't post URLs to the images that illustrate what I'm talking about! Could we turn it...

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

Here's an example of what I'm producing by hand: http://imgur.com/9Oho4.jpg The art is crisp and clear, the fonts are readable and it weighs in at 176k. Here's what Photoshop's Image Processor script produces with a jpeg setting of "8": http://imgur.com/sUmjo.jpg There's some clear compression...

Help Me Understand: Readabilty of Text in Images

I make a webcomic (CarpeChaos.com for examples), so I produce a lot of images with a fairly extensive amount of text in them. I want to make sure the fonts in those images are as readable as possible. My experience on this topic is just someone who has read a lot about it online, I'm not...

I am new. I make web comics. I'd like some help making better comics. That's about all. :) Oh, and you should read my comic. I'd post a link, but I don't have enough posts so the forum won't allow me. If you google Carpe Chaos, you'll find my comic.
