    Another good way to clone is tom simply create a blank layer above the layer you want to clone (one with pixels) and clone directly onto the blank layer...non destructibe this way!

    Converting to JPEG

    I suspect it may have something to do with the compression process. To avoid artefacts I would suggest saving at the highest quality Ppeg setting possible. Hope this helps!
