    Thanks iDad, you are correct in that it is constructed with a layer, in a blending mode. But the reason that I suspect a plugin is that these two images are from two separate artists and one of the artists has quite a number of images like this, where certain shapes seem to be outlined by this...

    Photoshop CS5 won't save - not enough RAM

    Thanks - I will try it and let you know. Is there a preferable way to use all of my 24 GB RAM? I seem to only be using a small amount of it in 32 bit mode. I would switch to 64 bit, but my favorite filter only works in 32 bit.

    Photoshop CS5 won't save - not enough RAM
