    IAMSAM..... Solved!!! I upgraded to a newer Photoshop 2021 (from 2018)....Tested it and no process wheel on the cursor. Thank you for all of your patience and help! Reesche

    IMSAM.... I just booted to one of my 3 drives that have Photoshop on them and on the drive 2 I launched PS and it did not do it when I painted lines with the brush tool!?!? Same version of PS on that drive. PS CC 2018 Reesche

    Hi again IMSAM..... Wow! Lot of testing done. I did all of your suggestions and even re-installed a new copy of Photoshop CC 2018 and it is still doing the same thing! I can not figure out what is causing the processor clock to do this when I click and hold the mouse button to paint...

    Yes there was a drive that I used often and I got the message that I should back-up my files ASAP and erase the drive and reformat it. I did that and it reformatted it sucessfully. Than, I Carbon Copy Cloned that drive from one of my 3 drives on my computer. Everything is working correctly...

    Thanks ImSam......I think the main thing here is that I was using the Marquet tool instead of the actual Crop Tool. You know I do a ton of PS work and have never used the actual Crop tool in my work flow. Thanks to you, now I know. Take care! Reesche

    Any Photo..... Crop something out of it.......what is left is the marque tool crop.... That's all..... And YES.... Unless you're asking where the drop down menu came from. Click on the gear icon.     Thank you for your reply...... See attached jpg. If I use the "Marquee tool" and select the area I want and crop our all the other areas.... as seen in the jpeg I use to just hit OPTION-ALT-F1 and it was done. if that is "Classic Mode" great! Now, please explain how you generated the gray...
