    looks to me like its just a yellow color has been added to it. using curves and just edit/play with each channel blue channel will get you the yellow effect

    having it say background wont change anything. just leave it how it is and fill it with black. then create another layer and add your image to it but if your copying the image over it will create a new layer for you when you paste it.

    your getting your info from the images directly on the post. you need to click on them and youll see the bigger image is 8 times (800kb) the file size you said it is :rolleyes: looks like paul used the images directly from the post as well

    what i do to make a shadow is make 2 duplicates of the text layer. make the text on those 2 layers full black. move/offset both as you like.
