    Soft metal effects

Which part, the background metal plate (flat gradient and lighting effects) or the metal bars (linear gradients with a bit of sparkle brush effects for the "twinkle)? Either way, you will still have to use lighting effects to give it the basic lighting. The knobs have drop shadow on them...

do i need a degree/qualifications to be a graphic designer!

Try a search on Monster.com, or hotjobs for graphic designer, and if any jobs currently are out there, they ususally are requiring documented education. With the proliferance of PC's, Graphics jobs have gotten more particular about who they hire. The pro's who have been doing it for 20 years...

    Getting Nailed

Semi-blatent, sorta, kinda self promotional link... Hey all! I recently accepted a mod position over at www.indeptharts.com, a graphics Forum that deals with 3d apps, and 2d apps, Corel's Painter in particular, but all other 2d programs, Photoshop included. It's a friendly enough place, even...

    brochure

I thought a brochure was taller than wide, with a tri-fold composition. This just looks like a full-page spread. The blending of the images is nice, but not condusive to a brochure, as the "seams" should follow the planned folds, so that images are complete on each section, without part of a...

Welcome, Phatty! So, c'mon now, get up off some examples of all this Photoshop stuff you've done. We're a pretty visual stimulus bunch, always wanting something "new" to look at, so... [excited]

    The Definition has Arrived

Now, Rick...I'm the bad attitude around these here parts, remember? The rest of you are supposed to be the good guys, who make up for my lack of tact and diplomacy... :D (But I DO agree with you 110%! ;) )

Well! Goes to show all of us, eh? I guess his first post wasn't a misinterpretation. :\

    The Definition has Arrived

Definition, I apologise for the immature individuals whoever they may be who joined DA just to rag ya. That's too rude to even discuss. If you don't like something, fine, but to make such an effort to put someone down is just subhuman, but the Internet is full of all types. I already AM a member...

    Getting Nailed

Next time you run AdAware, write down what the little nasty's name is, and then do a web search on it. You'll probably find a site with details on where it comes from and how to eliminate it permanently. You may also be reinfecting yourself from some site you are visiting. You may need to up...

    The Definition has Arrived

Ummmmmm.... First off, including a Viagra link in your sig is like...ummm against the terms and conditions of the site, I believe, but the Mods will clarify that one. Second, "teh mad skillz" is probably "cool" to the text messaging crowd, but in general, we all try to just communicate as real...

    pencil too and straight lines

Yes, I read your post. No, Photoshop cannot determine what your intentions are. What you click, is what you get. By using a grid over your image. You can make a click at point 'A,' and using the grid to determine the "exact point" where you want the straight line to end, you click on point...

    pencil too and straight lines

Vertical and Horozontal is handled by holding down the shift key. If you try any other angle, you will only get 45 degrees. If you need to be more precise, and can't eyeball it, throw a grid over the layer (ctrl+') and use that to place your cursor where you want it. You can adjust the...

HELP! I have a job that needs solutions.

Is your friend getting paid for this? Did she write up a contract? Did it state how many "reworks" were included for the price? You might try a search engine for all the terms you posted.

    Photo restoration

I agree. It won't be easy. You've got the blur problem, and that kid! It can be done, but you are talking a LOT of time and effort. She'll also be slouching terribly after you get rid of the kid, so you will have to work on bringing her posture back into line. Like I say, it CAN be done...

    Clone Stamp Tool

Uncheck the "aligned" check box so the source spot remains the same. If you do more than a minimum of "skin softening," your way seems awful time-consuming. You'd be better off working with the red channel and slightly blurring it.

    Magic Wand Lasso Help

Hi Gemma! Well, like ANY tool, you need to learn how to use it. Your best bet is to start with your User Manual. If you look in the back in the Index, you'll find where the section explaining the Magic wand is in the Manual. You can also do some web searches using the words Photoshop Magic...
