    Post Your Latest Pictures !

Welles, Thanks for sharing your 'formative years'...those were amazing times. I enlisted in the Navy right out of high school in the summer of '63 so I was otherwise occupied when the beatniks of the time became the 'flower children'. After my service, I got married and was further removed...

    Post Your Latest Pictures !

OK, I'll play too. Welles, Being from Santa Cruz, you don't look as 'Hippy' as I expected. ;) (I've visited Bonnie Doon and Red, White & Blue beaches many times...when I was much younger). :righton:

    DVD Menu

ooptea, Here's a link to a different forum under a topic for some Encore Tutorials, including basic and motion menus. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=85949 Here's the direct link to the tutorial site: http://doogs.sitesled.com/downloads.htm I haven't checked them out but...

    DVD Menu

I'm not familiar with Encore but you should be able to create custom menu buttons. You could either use an image with no text as the menu background and make text buttons with CS on a transparent background to overlay over the menu background. The buttons would read "Play Movie", "Scene...

Creating a cover for this movie:

dochappy, Thanks for the kind words (Nice handle by the way ;) )...When it comes to 'consumer' video editing and dvd authoring software, it seems that each does some or all things to some degree but none do it all. I have several programs that I use for different tasks. For example. I have...

Creating a cover for this movie:

Just a quick update. I've now rendered the movie along with the 'Bonus Material' slide show to dvd and have completed the cover label. I'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out...but I already see where I need to make improvements. I've also updated my menu. I now have a way...

Creating a cover for this movie:

Welles, Thanks for the 2nd opinion on the text color. I was getting concerned. [saywhat] I purposely widened the faces as they looked too narrow to my eyes on the VHS cover. Hopefully, without that image right next to mine for comparison, my version won't look too 'fat'. Here's an...

Creating a cover for this movie:

Wow, weird that the colors you see are so different. When I print out my cover labels, the colors match my monitor screen very closely. I'd be curious to know how other members here see the colors. BTW, I am now re-rendering the movie...and have created a 'Bonus Feature'. It's a slide show of...

Creating a cover for this movie:

Patrick, Thanks for the comments. I adjusted the location/format of the Title and the color (it looked golden on my monitor) and changed the color of the charactor's names too. I wanted to keep the font, a stencil style, to go with the military theme. The top, bottom and right edge of this...

Creating a cover for this movie:

Today on Turner Classic Movies, 8:30am Pacific: I'm in the process of creating a dvd cover for the movie now. Below is a comparison between the VHS cover and my work in progress. Comments are welcome as usual...thanks Movie Trailer

    Layout breaks apart when slicing

Sounds like the border width for the table needs to be set to 0

    aged or oldie effects

Attached is a set of Actions created by one of the members here. Unfortunately, I don't recall their username. Perhaps The Keeper or another member will. At any rate, the actions work very well for "aging" any of your photos.

    Any grillers out there?

Grilling, as apposed to Barbecuing which is a whole other technique (low & slow). Here's my new gas grill (also have a charcoal grill): 7 burners, 60,000 btu's and over 600 sq inches of cooking surface. Here's what I grilled yesterday. Flank steak in a marinade of soy sauce, sake...

    Change Color Of B&W Logo

Or, you could select the text you want using the wand tool and choose 'layer via copy' Then, with the selection layer highlighted, go to image > adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Be sure the 'colorize' option is selected and adjust the text color to a color and shade of your liking.

    fuzzy/blurry pictures

Keep in mind that with a wide aperture, your depth of field will be narrower. That is to say the area that is in focus, front to back, from your subject will be lessened. This can be a good thing and is used a lot for portrait photography with a medium telephoto lens. Your subject will be in...

    Another selection question

Sark, Thanks for the tips. Here's my result using your method. I trimmed the ends a bit and there's still a bit of a wave at the top but it looks much better now. Nitro, LOL...yes, the USS Nitro. Obviously an ammunitions ship. [confused] Glad to know there is another 'old salt' on...

I need some critiquing, criticism, likes and dislikes.

My only comment would be the use of the word "weather". In this spelling, it refers to atmospheric conditions. I believe the proper spelling should be "whether". http://www.indictionary.com/define/Whether Nice looking site.

    Another selection question

By the way, this is the best I've been able to come up with. First, I filled in the background with black. Then I found that by increasing the image size by changing the pixels per inch from the default 72 to 150 before I made any selections, the selections were smoother. Using the eliptical...

    Another selection question

That is the entire picture...just the patch on a transparent background. To 'grab' the picture, you can right click on the patch, then select 'save picture as' (using IE).

    Another selection question

I've had an image of the shoulder patch for the ship I was stationed on, the USS Oriskany, for some time. I'd like to use it for one of my web pages but the border of the patch is too jagged for my likes. I had hoped to either create a slightly smaller selection then do a cut to smooth out the...
