    Gimp to Photoshop

You could also download GIMP, which is freeware, and "save as" yourself. Then you'd have the original file and be ready to work with these folks again. :)

How can I achieve this effect? Pls help...

I went about it a little differently. Copied the picture onto a new layer and played with the "black and white" adjustment until I got the kind of contrast I wanted. Then colorized it with a hue/saturation adjustment. I used green just because but could be any color. Added a layer mask and...

Had to Share - Can't Wait!!

Back to the topic at hand..... I haven't done more than look at the 3D part of CS5, to be honest, but I have spent some time playing with the pen tablet. It is definitely a process. After messing with it for a bit I don't think I'll ever actually get rid of my mouse. Aside from the fact...

    Playing with colours

I actually like the color version! One scooby snack for you.

Had to Share - Can't Wait!!

Smokey: Thank you for your comments, but I disagree with you about as much as it is possible to disagree without actual warfare. It sounds like you have a sweet setup. Congratulations!! I sincerely could not be happier for you that you have the means to get all the tools to make your...

The thing I like about Photoshop is.....

Stay tuned, iDad. I've got a big project going and haven't had a lot of time but I already have the idea. :D

Fill with pattern, which doesn't "cut off"

Or you could cut out the pattern and mask off any partial circles. Or you could copy one of the full circles and paste on top of the partial ones. Or both I find the lasso tool very difficult very difficult to use precisely, but your mileage may vary. iDad's method would definitely result in...

    Coliur change :-)

Heading off to work, but I did this rather quickly. I've attached an image with the wheels selected and colored in and also a .psd so you can change the top layer (the wheels) to any color red you want.

Had to Share - Can't Wait!!

Everything has arrived. The pen tool is going to require a steep learning curve, but already I am thrilled with the precision. Funny how a new controller can make you feel like such a spaz.....

    Cleaning jaggy lines.Any ideas?

If I absolutely have to increase the size that much, I enlarge to the right size then re-draw on a transparent layer on top. I'm having the same issues. My friend has a lot of old VHS tapes he recorded back in the day of TV shows that were never released on DVD. He's converting them to...

You want to change the wheels red? Or the car?

Editing .jpg image which has dotted lines around the image

There is freeware out there called GIMP which is perfectly fine for basic image editing. http://www.gimp.org/ I think even MS Paint, which usually comes with Windows-based computers, will crop off the dotted lines. Good luck!

    Yes, it is.

    Newbie Photoshop Question.

No such thing as too many questions. :) I would honestly just use a small round brush, with hardness at about 90-95%

    Starry Nightmare.... or....

    Nice!!!!

Drawing a line 1-pixel wide the entire way through.

I've had the same issue - the thing looks horrible up close with the line tool when you draw it but it will come together nicely when you click out of it to another layer.

    Illustrator Good Tuts

I like tutvid.com. He's got several good vids, easy to understand and follow. I haven't looked over the Illustrator vids but his Photoshop ones are excellent. Good luck!

    Newbie Photoshop Question.

I would do it in Photoshop the same way I would do it on paper - draw it with the brush tool. It would be easier with a pen tablet but it can be done with a mouse.

adding noise in edges of images?

The noise around the edges is easy to do. Add a layer on top of your image and fill it (I used black, but your choice). Then mask out the middle. In this example using a stock photo, I used a black-to-white radial gradient on the layer mask to just reveal her face. I can't help you with the...

    correct dry brittle hair

This was quickly done, but could be expanded upon if you like the results.
