    Framing a print

Thanks Sark! Geez, $9.99/print in the UK? Send your files over to me, I'll add a black border and crop off half of it unevenly for only $2.99 :D thanks. I'll let you folks know how my next "run" to the photoshop pays off.

    Framing a print

Scaling The size of the paper I am trying to print to is 8" X 10". To print a black border around the image (which is already sized to 8" X 10"), I thought I would have to reduce the image size by 5% in both width and height all the way around so the black border would show. For some reason...

Stats from Canon's site I said 20mm ;\ meant 28mm (still a newbie with the camera lingo)

    Framing a print

Erik - Can you tell me how I would add a black boarder around a photo before printing it? Here's what I want, and how I tried to accomplish it. I opened a photo that I recently took in photoshop. I changed the background into a layer, created a new layer below it and filled that new...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

Night shots vs. morning shots Thanks for the feedback on the pictures. You are right in the fact that they are all taken in the evening. I have to leave each morning at 6:00 a.m. for a 1 1/2 hr. commute to work ( :(| ). The only time that I'm home in the morning is on the weekend and it...

??? Thanks for the link. I will definitely take advantage of the site. Glad the Canon ranked highly. I did quite a bit of research before I bought, but I've always been a disposable camera kind of person (Erik shutters). I thougth I'd take the leap and force myself to learn about cameras by...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

I figured as much. I ended up buying a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB memory card. xfer rate of 9mb/sec. I figured that would give me the flexibility to save pictures in RAW format. I took a few pics in RAW format (9MB each). When I converted them to TIFF, they jumped to 25MB each!!! [saywhat]...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

Ahhhh has been achieved! It's funny. As soon as you showed 3000 /300 = 10 inches and 2400/300 = 8 inches I went "Ahhhhh"...then the next line below that you mentioned it! Thanks for clarifying that for me Erik. I'm sure you must have laryngitis from explaining this over and over again. I...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

Question about size and dpi Is there a formula that everyone but me knows for figuring pixel size versus print size and what dpi to set my pics at? I have to admit, I just set my pics to 300 dpi before I headed off to get them printed. I didn't realize I "should" only be setting them to...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

Thanks guys! Erik, With it being a online print question, I wasn't sure if it should go in General or Photograph. Thanks for taking care of the move for me. I brought the pics and had them printed on 8 X 10 last night and they came out great. I can see that I'd be pushing the envelope...

Printing photos - looking for suggestions

Hi gang! I recently bought a digital camera. Took some great pictures and would love to send them to an onine printing service to "test the waters". I would like to get them printed at approx. 16 X 20 so I can see the quality of a large-scale print. Can anyone give me a recommendation...

    photoshop/imageready

That depends... The more colors that you use, the larger your image will be. For example, if you said "Only use 4 colors, your image would be small...and ugly ;-) If you said use 64,000 colors, your image would be huge and have a lot of detail. When you Save for web, you have the...

    Love my new digital camera!

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I can only claim dumb luck with that photo. The camera must be smart enough to compensate for my adjustments. On another note: PSD Sergiy, I followed a link to your site last night. Looks great! I really liked the logo design. You have a real eye for design...

    Love my new digital camera!

When I say I have NO photography skills, I mean none! So, of course, I'm the guy who goes out and gets a nice camera (for me at least). I was shocked by how good the quality is on these cameras!!! I took this photo of a daffodil last night in my backyard. I was trying out the Super-Macro...
