    Beetle Colour

hue/sat adj. layer, change the cyan and blue channels, mask out the stuff that you don't want changed (windows, sky, etc..). if the image gets too many artifacts from the color change duplicate the original layer with the blue beetle, set it on top and set the blending mode to luminosity.

    Tree_Bark_Textured_Skull

it doesn't pop out immediately, but when it does it's a little creepy if you're not expecting it.

    halos around masks

for trees, as long as they're not too large and detailed in the foreground, i use a hard splatter brush and set it up to scatter. then zoom in, set the brush small and go over the white edge. the random pattern keeps it looking natural. if you need something more accurate use the pen tool to...

    turtle island

irish immigrant unfortunately born in america... shay-drah, although now that i think about it that exact pronunciation may have been jumbled by the circumstances in which it's uttered (siodre means cider in gaelic, not the apple sort either). probably due to the lack of good...

    turtle island

thanks ibclare. i was going for surreal and subtle, trying to not overdo it. wanted people to see the turtle (tortoise actually, oops...) then realize there was a landmass on it's shell.

    ADVANCED section!

i like this idea. it'd be easier to know what level of advice to give when replying to questions based on what section they were posted under. i don't think it's so much labeling people as much as people labeling their own abilities. for example, i'd post in the advanced section for...

    Making neon color stick out

i think he wants his neon colors to come out like the ones in the example he gave, not change the example. here's a tutorial using layer effects on text and making it look neon, but it would work on something like what's posted above. Shining Neon Text Effect in Photoshop | Abduzeedo |...

    Just layers

not bad. use the warp tool to move some of the stripes around, esp around the leg where you have the big white band.

    anyone know gold code

there are a lot of gold possibilities out there... you could try finding a shiny gold you like and using filter>blur>average. couple of hexcodes to try - D4A017, C7A317, CFB52B, C68E17. also see hue =48 or 54 at this site - Generated Hex Color Codes at intervals of hue, saturation, and light...

    Making a repeating pattern

i'm not sure what your final use is, but if you're looking for something like a website background then try this method: put your pattern on a new layer. duplicate it. on the new layer run filter>other>offset. the numbers you type in should be half of your total pixels, so if your image is...
