not my way at all. but if i was running a school on how to learn photoshop, i wouldn't be teaching students with a mouse that's for sure. it wasn't intended for that.

    Tablet or Mouse Debate

a mouse is perfect if all you're doing is going to file/edit/transform, etc... but if you're trying to actually draw in strands of hair or trying to draw in other aspects, then a mouse simply cannot be used to do it. it's up to you whatever you're using.

    Satin overlay problem.

do you have "preview" checked on when you're doing this?

    Tablet or Mouse Debate

It's why all the studios in the world use tablets and not a mouse. in fact the high-end studios are using cintiqs, not tablets. An ever bigger step up. But a mouse is not even used in these places. Intuos's are the bare minimum. I don't know what the debate is here. I can assure you that no...

i can't name one advantage using a mouse. Can anyone else? And why would you? Why wouldn't you use a tablet instead of a mouse?

sorry bud, didn't mean to offend. but simply put, there are 0 advantages to using a mouse over a tablet. None. Nada. It's why all the studios in the world use tablets and not a mouse. in fact the high-end studios are using cintiqs, not tablets. An ever bigger step up. But a mouse is not even...

and again with the edges of the hair softened a bit to everyone's benefit of the doubt, the original image is a poor quality one. it's hard to work with.

    Photoshop help

now let me reply to this one how you would do it with a tablet: paul's looks good, but the hair's edges are jittery and you can see where the "fake" hair was drawn on the right side of the picture: it's 100% obvious that those extra strands were drawn with a mouse; they're angular and not...

lol. :) with a tablet, you can draw and paint naturally, like you do with a pencil on paper. You *cannot* do that with a mouse. Now, if you're using photoshop strictly for photograph editing and automated commands, then a mouse is fine. But if you're using photoshop to draw and paint like...

you're wrong bud! Before I go any further... have you used a wacom tablet with photoshop?

lol it's probable that 90% of the world's photoshop users are using a mouse. So of course all the good stuff is done with a mouse. But all the great stuff is done only with a tablet

i think it looks good. I wouldn't know it was an edit. one thing: lower the exposure just a bit on her butt. (directly under her left elbow).

try this again: 1. right-click on the layer in the layers pallet and select "blending options..." 2. place a chackmark beside "Bevel and Emboss" and underneath that, make sure "Texture" has a checkmark. Do not place a checkmark beside "Contour". 3. in the middle of this window, you see the...

don't want to put you on the spot. go get a wacom bamboo. they can be found for under a 100 bucks. that's pocket change. especially for someone who loves photoshop. once you get it, you'll see what you're missing. and from there, you'll find that you want to upgrade to higher models in the...

tablets existed in the 1980s when I was using a commodore 64 for graphics. Tablets have been around longer than photoshop, and have always been available to use. i hope this doesn't mean that as a moderator, you're still using a mouse?
