    Great retouch site

Well another tip I've used before is to remove the subject from the background, provide an new background altogether, run Lighing Effects on the new background and adjust lighting on the subject material by using a technique similar to Russel's tutorial (the mask one.) That way you have control...

    2nd question help please

Steve, You are going to have to struggle to wrap your brain around the issue of pixel size, resolution, and print size. At first it always seems obscure at best, but it is a vital bit of Photoshop knowledge. In the top Image Size dialog, I've set up an image dimension of your camera's output...

    Great retouch site

Welcome to the forums, ibookster! On all the images I saw he did color corrections, sharpening, and then lighting. Russell Brown? has a great tutorial on the lighting portion. It's called "Lighting with Layers Change the lighting of an image with two simple techniques."...

The Third Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest

:D Well that image sure put me in a Halloweenish mood, retroactively of course. I don't begrudge the fact that I live in the sticks and Trick or Treating just can't happen when the houses are so far apart, many with gates. I do miss it, though. You're image reminded me of something from my...

You're welcome, Doc. I used to be a fontaholic but hadn't looked through a dingbat stash in years so while I was there, I grabbed a few myself! ;)

Wow! Boy did you nail down the 3D element in the PS work (post Xara), ronmatt. Very nice rather grungy textures, too. :righton:

    Xara and PS

ronmatt. Xara products are great! If you saw a post of mine about Xara, I was just passing on my enthusiasm about them as I'd recently learned about them from Gary David Bouton (right here at Application Convergence forum). Gare is quite expert with Xara products. My response was so great that...

    texture help needed

I use the Forward Warp Tool (the one at the top of the toolbar at the left) and a brush setting fairly small. The brush setting size will depend entirely upon the size of your image. I used a brush diameter approximately 2X the size of a square. Then small movements should move the lines sort...

    texture help needed

Change the bevel and emboss settings to suit your taste. The speckles are an exaggeration of the highlight of the texture. Experiment with different textures and sharpening will make the speckles stand out more. I'm afraid, at this point you'll have to experiment to suit your taste. ;)

    texture help needed

Welcome to the forums, lightnin! Here's a quick sample background and the steps I took. 1. I made a square grid on an empty layer. 2, The Liquify tool to put the wiggle in the lines. 3. Beneath that layer was a linear gradient made by trying to pick the colors out of your sample image. 4...
