Er, Uh, Not Sure If Serious

Just kidding. I am working on getting back my art mojo, but it has been a struggle this summer. This is my newest project, a 1080p wallpaper dubbed "Bypass." It is a huge comet passing close to a gas giant and its moon. Bypass is all completely fabricated in Photoshop by me, no stock images...

    Retouch Attempt III

Very nice work indeed. The only complaint I have are the stars on the black window. They are distracting from the main subject, and, there is a black blocks around them cut into the window frame.

    Bug created in Photoshop

Pretty righteous stuff Chris. If I absolutely had to nitpick, I would say that the bug's legs need some light tweaking. Play on word light here. A light application of a reduction in highlights towards the lower portions of each leg will give the guy (or gal, tee hee) a bit more depth. Maybe...

    Trying Retouch Again

Where to begin. As already noted by the others, your selections need much refinement. Here are a few tips when applying makeup in your Photoshop projects: 1. Never use hard edges, not even on lipstick. 2. Always use the layer blend functions in the Layer Style toolset to refine the makeup...

    Another Self-Portrait Before/After..

I agree with Tom. Desat that color...a lot. Well, not all the way, but maybe around half for starters. As of now, your color over-saturation is drowning out the lighting and texture contrasts. It makes for a very uninteresting picture in my book.

The Last One, I Swear To The Gods It Is

clare, thanks. I don't usually work with strictly abstracts that much, but lately they have been the one thing I seem to be able to finish. I like to create all my work from scratch, and yet none of my scenes are working out. Perspective, perspective, perspective. Right? chris, thanks...

    Visual Perception Disorder

I thought perhaps the people were artificially inserted. Thanks for the explanation.

    My latest typographic work

I have to agree with IamSam. If the viewer has to take too much time to determine what it is he is seeing and reading, the effect is lost. The alpha-numeric glyphs should be fairly recognizable on first glance. Items 1, 4 and 5 require too much time to study to be effective at all. Take item...

    NO WORDS THREAD 20130330b: Abstract

Here is the latest abstract culmination of my thoughts versus the world. This 1920x1080 widescreen HD wallpaper was created solely in Photoshop and a Wacom tablet.

The Last One, I Swear To The Gods It Is

Thanks y'all! I haven't been feeling it all summer. Still working on getting my mojo back. dv8_fx, I didn't really keep track of the hours, but yeah, it took a while to create. I had a lot of fun doing it. Tom, I will be glad to post it in the no words thread.

Interesting. I like it a lot. What made you pick that point on the horizon?

The Last One, I Swear To The Gods It Is

I am going crazy, albeit slowly. This is the latest abstract culmination of my thoughts versus the world. Perhaps it is an exercise in futility. This 1920x1080 widescreen HD wallpaper was created solely in Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. I think it should be viewed fullscreen to appreciate. Or...

    Picture Outside the Frame

The last one looks the best. The only thing I would do now is to overlay a Deep Emerald Photo filter to bring the overall image together. This would help to make the picture frame and girl become part of the image instead of looking like add-ins, while leaving almost all of the remaining hues...

    Starting Professional Logo Design

I have to back what the other guys have said here. The more difficult task when it comes to logo/brandmark design is understanding what the logo is truly representing and how it fronts an image for your client, all with the ability to wrap it up in a sweet little graphic. Learning to use the...

Self-Portrait First Retouch Attempt Ever. Opinion?

Tom, I somehow missed the first two pages.

Self-Portrait First Retouch Attempt Ever. Opinion?

Yikes! Just kidding. Sweet stuff, but my opinion is that it final result would be more striking if you reduce the saturation and vivacity a bit. Is it it just me, or did your camera focus more on your hair than your face? The highlights in the front of your hair draw me there instead of your...

    Cell Phone Image Got Doctored

Tom, thanks for the link. DoF has always been an illusive thing for me. I have gotten it fairly right on occasion, but that is the result of trial and error and not so much the understanding of the tools available.
