    Thanks this method seemed to do the trick and now have the house looking like I want. I wonder on come it wasn't working the other way.

    Thanks for help but even with the contiguous box checked when I click anywhere on the white parts of the house with the magic wand tool it just creates a selection around the whole house like in the pic I attached. So if I turn down the transparency it does it to the whole image.
