    Thanks for getting back to me! The tech I spoke with at Adobe told me that there was software they had been handing out. But that she would have to check if there were any copies available. I guess not hearing back from Adobe is about the same as not hearing back after a first date: bad news.

    Hi Kevin, Thank you for your suggestion; yes, I did have this option turned off. I tried posting a reply earlier today - but hit the wrong reply button and it never showed up here. Have deleted/reset photoshop preferences as per Steve's suggestion and all is again well in the universe...
