    Difference between PS 6 & 7

    oh hell yeah 7 is better than 6... it was one of the upgrades that was said to be a "must have" but CS was just announced (its CS for creative studio not Photoshop 8) so might as well wait for a month or so for it to ship and then upgrade to that.

    yeah CS looks nice but I think I'm gonna upgrade my workstation before I upgrade to cs... unless I can work a deal on that too... alot of the new features seem geared more toward cutting down time but upgrading my system can do that too...

    I also highly recommned Computer Art... great magazine (I ended up getting a subscription because the bookstore never had the ones I wanted to get)... also Computer Arts Projects recently put out an issue about "Website in a weekend" maybe you should check it out.

    sounds good to me. although free doesn't really encourage me to spend much time. I get paid more to sit in a room while a teacher is out for the day. but I guess its a tax deduction huh?

    The problem I have with it is that offering a product free degrades the value of it for people who do it for a living. its like having 2 grocery stores in town and one charges an acceptable price according to national standards and the other gives away everything free of charge. obviously...

    How to print to scale?

    some canon printers print full bleed I think its anything over the S500 or S600 or something. I'm sure others do too... make sure your printer can... if not go shopping or go to the print shop.

    put in your text layer and then on the top right corner of the layer's pallette there is a area that says "opacity" lower that number and you'll see through the text.

    I agree its expensive software but well worth it but if schools could work deals with the companies the prices could be lower. I went to a school for a while that had a deal with microsoft and they distributed microsoft software for $5 a cd so I could get office Xp Professional for like $20...

    can this be done in PS or is it a font on its own..

    bevel and emboss... its one of the layer styles... probably chisel hard and then mess with the depth. in reality the shadows would be diffrent on either side of that torch thats why I think its the bevel and emboss and not a lighting effect.
