    ok i got it, what i did was unlock the layer --> click FX --> color overlay -->blend mode: overlay --> change color to white

    When you say add a hue/saturation layer, you mean to go to 'color replacement tool', then select hue/saturation mode? after where do i select 'blue' from the drop down list?
