I'm trying make the gray parts of this pic white/more lighter.

For some reason I can't change it to white, though

I can change it to blue, red, and some other colors but not White.

I posted my settings

How can I change it to white?

The easy option is to 1. add a hue/saturation layer

2. select the 'blue' option from the drop down list
3. Drop the saturation and boost the lightness

This should give it the white colour you're looking for while keeping the shadows in tact. (don't over do the lightness as it might blow out the image)

When you say add a hue/saturation layer, you mean to go to 'color replacement tool', then select hue/saturation mode?

after where do i select 'blue' from the drop down list?

(Number 1) is the adjustment layers, click that and choose the hue/saturation layer and (number 2) will appear. You will see a box on top of that (number 3) where you can make all your adjustments. Where I have circled blue is the drop down list where you need to select it. Drop the saturation down and the lightness up. Hope this clears it up a little better :)

ok i got it, what i did was unlock the layer --> click FX --> color overlay -->blend mode: overlay --> change color to white

Or that way :p Although, that way pretty much destroys the grey around the magnifying glass (unless that's what you wanted?)
