How to create this effect from a photo?

I'm pretty sure that picture is a vector drawing with some extra touch-ups/effects added on. If you want to copy it exactly, look into vectors, vector drawings and become really good friends with your pen tool. You can kind of (not really) imitate that effect using posterize, try something like...

    Facial tones and neck/jaw shadowing

if you need to post your pic, just upload it somewhere (imageshack, tinypic, photobucket, etc) and paste the url here without the "http://www." the forum won't recognize it as a URL and it'll post fine. about your problem though, I'd say you're going to either have to clone it, or use the...

Getting stills from dvd into high quality images

Honestly, there isn't an easy way to do this, I suppose I'd recommend using filter->noise->despeckle, and filter->noise->reduce noise. Other than that, you'll need to go in and blur, clone and heal by hand whatever is left. keep in mind that standard dvd resolution is 720x480 at 72dpi. So...

    [Request]Please Help Me Out!!

I thought I'd just play with this for a little while, came up with this: it's... meh, but it's yours if you want it. Also I'll give it another go if you want, especially if I got something particularly wrong.

How to change white to black

I thought about that mfox, but if there are any shadows on the shirt (as there very likely will be) inverting the color might throw things off. edit: it could do something like this:

    I need help :s

I would try watching the video on this page and see if it will work for what you are doing. Creating a Sunburst in Photoshop I watched it without sound, and it was still easy to understand so your english shouldn't matter. Translated with babelfish:

    Blonde hair in sillhouette

unfortunately, you're going to have to stripe it. Light parts of the hair go white, dark(er) parts black. Pay attention to detail and take your time and it'll turn out pretty well. It's going to be a royal pain to pull off though...

Newbie Needs Help With Football Banner

unfortunately, the link to your image is broken, so I can't work off of it. I did however throw this together quickly: not sure if it'll be helpful though. If it's not what you're looking for than I'll try to work with what you have if I can get a working link.

How to change white to black

This is a bit of a sticky problem, which I admit I haven't come across before. If I were you though, I'd try to select the parts of the shirt you want to change then hit ctrl+j to make it it's own layer. Image->adjustments->black&white and put all the sliders at black. If that isn't dark enough...

    WallPaper size

Don't know if you're still paying any attention to this post, but you definitely need a 1024x768 as it is still one of the most commonly used resolutions on aging computers.

    Moving An Anchor Point

Honestly, I never really worry about moving points too much. I find it easier to just place another point where I want it and delete the offending point. I suppose I'm just lazy and don't like to change tools... ps. lefacilapeats, This isn't really the right place for intros, but It's good to...

Help needed please if you can

Hi Emma, glad you found us here. I still consider myself fairly new to PS, but I'm willing to play around some for you. Could you possibly give us a little more information, such as size, color scheme (of the site), or file type. Here's what I came up with without knowing that yet:

Advise please on program to purchase

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend GIMP (LINK). It's a totally free, fully functional graphic editing program that you can play with for a little while to make sure you like what you're doing before you make any financial leap. The only other currently circulating digital imaging...

    line drawing from photoshop paths???

That is going to be pretty difficult to replicate well without spending the time to customize each stroke. The only thing I can think of is playing with some brush settings here: Using the angle jitter and size jitter you could try to replicate some random stroke variation. You can also...

Having a serious issue with gradients..

That's really odd. The only thing I can think of is that possibly your Mode for the gradient isn't set to 'normal'. In my experience, setting a blending mode to something like luminosity just turns things grey. If that's not it, than I can't help you. Sorry.

    mount Rushmore

Alright, let's substitute. Everything else will be the same. 3) copy and paste the texture over the head (on it's own layer), then on the head layer use the magic wand tool anywhere in the empty space around the head. Basically you want everything but the head selected. Now go to your texture...

    mount Rushmore

Okay, this is off the top of my head, as I'm out of town and don't have Photoshop right now. It sounds like you already have your head cut out, so I'm not going to go into detail on that. 1) Once you have your head cut, and placed on it's own layer over the mountain go to...
