    Stretching a 16-bit image without changing pixel values

    I have a 16 bit image which , due to raw pixel values, appears mostly black when first imported into PS. I can use auto contrast to stretch the image and to make edits, however this changes every pixel value. Is there a way to edit a stretched image then revert back to the original pixel values...

    Help!!!!!

    I'm trying to help my brother in law scale this picture to be able to fit the banner on his website which is a large rectangle. The picture is originally square. Can someone talk me through or possibly show me how to make this look less stretched and cleaner. Thank you.

    Editing Contents, Stretch Problem

    I am trying to edit the contents of a template (right click on layer, edit contents). When I save the file (a psb) it stretches the image. Is this because I have CS3 and not CS4? Is there a preference I need to change?
