I am using Photoshop 2020 monthly subscription on a PC tower, Windows 10. When I click on the New Layer (+box) icon at bottom of PS Layers Palette to insert a new layer, it is opaque, not transparent. On my laptop, the new layer is transparent. How do I make the new layer on my tower transparent upon creationPS Pic for Transparency problem.jpg, too? Thank you.,

Hello.

Per your example, if the new layer is active and you can still view layers beneath it, then it's still transparent.

Have you tried resetting your Ps prefs?

This is how to reset your preferences in Photoshop: Press-and-hold Command-Option-Shift on a Mac or Ctrl-Alt-Shift on a PC, while you start Photoshop. As you start the program you will get a pop-up dialog asking you if you would like to delete the settings file. Deleting the file will create a new set of preferences from scratch.

Worked perfectly to give me transparent layer when I click New Layer icon. Thank you. :)
