Add vertical lines across text

Hi

I'm working on a logo for a programming website (mostly related to unix), and wan't to give it that 'terminal'-feeling. The idea is to add alot of thin lines across some green text. Like on this picture:



The "MSX" text have exactly what I'm looking for.

I can't find any filter or guide to how to go about doing that without using hours manually adding lines across the text.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never having tried to do this, I'm only surmising what you might do. Someone else may have a better idea.

There may be a brush to be found with what you want or you might even be able to find a pattern to add to layer effects. Otherwise, you will in fact need to create the lines yourself. But it won't take hours. As hawkeye suggested in another post today, if you set up your guidelines and use snap to guides, it will be easy to make straight and evenly spaced lines. You needn't make them that small as you can transform them. You can use either the pencil or brush, make a mark, hold down the shift key, and click at the end point. You could achieve this with the pen tool, make your path and stroke it. Be sure to make your stroke on a separate layer. You can use it as is, or make your own pattern from it, especially since you put some time into making it. Be sure it's the only layer visible, go to edit>define pattern and name it. It will show up in your layer fx, pattern overlay option.

Those are my suggestions.

There are brushes that do it but i can't find the link at the minute, but try this out in the meantime.
