Can someone help me?

I really want a poster in my room to commemorate Canada hosting the Women's World Cup 2015. I see some great work by American fans like these:






I am having trouble coming up with something equally as artistic. Our country's flag only has two colors so I am having trouble being artistic with just red and white. I am thinking of maybe adding medal colors like bronze, silver and gold in the design. I am also thinking of adding the black and red horizontal stripes as that is my favorite jersey of theirs:



Does anyone have any ideas what I could do?

Moved to appropriate forum.....

Seeing that the sample image features a ball design, start with a ball.... look for one that suits your fancy.

Color the cels in Red and white..... Recreate your third sample minus the shirt, text and logo. Drag in the Ball image and add a transparent (lowered layer opacity) of the Canadian Maple Leaf...... play around with the image to get what you like and add text if desired.

Thanks dv8_fx. I am actually really really new to Photoshop, but I like your idea. I am wondering if you could show me how you would do it. Yes, I know the rules. You don't have to and it's up to you, but I thought all I could do is ask nicely. If not, let me know and maybe someone else can step in.

You could always use the FIFA colors...that's what most countries do. Here's a couple examples I found with Google.
