Changing File extensions

Does anyone know how I can change a *.bmp to a *.bum formate. You see Poser only recognizes the bum extension for bump maps and I don't know how to make this change

I am not a poser user but I did a search on google ( .bum files) and it came up with the link above amongst others.

It looks from the tut that

Bump files are made by entering the render materials setup of Poser and applying an image into the bump channel
