Problem: How to enlarge (100 times) image of multiple intersecting low resolution contour lines wile avoiding pixelation?

Simple answer: It can't be done.
Second thoughts: Well, under some circumstances it can be done... sort of. For example if lines are orthogonal to begin with then simple re-sample to nearest neighbor algorithm will do fine. If lines are simple enough, then tracing them with pen tool and recreating the original lines at higher resolution by stroking the paths with a brush will do also. Also if original lines are smooth and thick enough then some re-sampling, blurring and leveling can work (anisotropic diffusion filter may help) but will produce smoothing artifacts at corners.

From what I can see the problem boils down to creatively converting the original lines to vectors (paths / shapes) and avoiding the whole messiness of raster anti-aliasing. But here we face additional problems: Adobe trace engine is not smart enough to recognize geometric shapes, intersecting lines, straight edges, orthogonal lines and mathematical curves - just try to trace a font and you will end up with a baggy monster. Additionally, it appears that in Photoshop center-line trace is not possible and you are limited to outlines. Here is where I get stuck.

In the past true gurus of this forum gave some insights into possible solutions on various problems and I hope you can again share your ideas on this never-dying subject.

Hey qwerty, don't know if this is what you want but take a look at this discussion:
http://www.photoshopgurus.com/forum/general-photoshop-board/2335-smoothing-rough-edges.html

I've had similar problems, but since I started using the pen tool, I haven't seen it. But then, I have not had to do a lot of things that required 100% clean edges. The only other thing I can suggest is using AI for vector based graphics. But I'll keep looking for other potential solutions

TRUE... but considering PS displays a vector as a pseudo vector and the OP wants to enlarge it 100 times , the output will not be that clean.

Like Ibclare said, AI will be your best bet....

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, there is not much help from that discussion either. Let me know if you find anything useful

I am not new to Photoshop, so don't be deceived by "x100 times" figure of speech. There are some creative ways to simulate enlargements to reasonably large value in some special cases (fractal textures, noise, orthogonal designs, etc), but thin, overlapping lines is not one of them. I simply can not be sure that I don't miss something known to narrow group of local gurus, so I am asking for ideas... That said, thank you for all your help.

If I absolutely have to increase the size that much, I enlarge to the right size then re-draw on a transparent layer on top.

I'm having the same issues. My friend has a lot of old VHS tapes he recorded back in the day of TV shows that were never released on DVD. He's converting them to digital and I'm doing covers for him. The only images existing for these shows are tiny crappy images on IMdb, so most of them I am having to re-draw.

It takes time, but the results are WAY better than pixilated weirdness.
