Color correcting layer groups

How can color correction be applied to a GROUP of layers?

Use an adjustment layer to do it.

You need to set the blending mode of this group to normal (by default it's set to Pass Through).

In this example you can see how the Hue & Saturation adjustment layer only affected the layers inside the group.
